The term ‘dualism’ has a variety of uses in the history of thought. In general, the idea is that there are two fundamental kinds or categories of things or principles. A ‘Dualist’ is someone who believes that there are more or less equal forces in the world.

Humans have a love/hate relationship with the clock, if modern idioms are any indication. Time flies when we’re having fun. It drags when we’re bored.
